Roam · Design From Anywhere · for the Artist

Roam: your show lives with you, not the console.

Inspiration doesn’t wait for load-in. Roam puts your whole show in your pocket — open it on a plane, in the back of an SUV, at 2am — scrub to any moment, describe a change in plain language, and watch it come to life on your screen. No rig. No signal. No engineer on the line. Just you and the show.

Whenever it hits you —
the show is right there.

Roam is the part of Lumen that travels. The show is saved in the cloud as your intent, not as one console’s wiring. So you can pick it up on any device, anywhere, and shape it. Every change you make is a new saved version your lighting designer can pick up later — the desk never has to be in the room.

What it feels like — on your phone

You’re somewhere with no signal. You open Roam. The whole show is already on the device. You scrub to the drop, and you just… describe what you want.

What just happened

  • The whole show was on the device. No connection needed — it plays from the file, offline.
  • You scrubbed to the moment. Like a video. The preview shows that exact instant of the show.
  • You described it, didn’t program it. Plain language — “angrier,” “tighter,” “colder.”
  • It spoke your LD’s language. Your words resolved to a look they authored — so it still looks like your show.
  • It saved as a version. Nothing is lost, nothing overwrites. Your LD picks up the change when they’re ready.

Why “faithful, not photoreal”

The on-device preview isn’t trying to be a render farm in your pocket. It’s trying to tell you the truth about the feel: yes, that’s blood-red and tight; yes, it’s slower than the last version; yes, the room just got colder. That’s the decision you’re actually making at 2am — not pixel-accuracy. The high-resolution version comes later; the honest one comes first.

How it fits the rest of Lumen

The show is intent

Roam edits the same console-agnostic show model as everything else. It never touches a live rig — it can’t. It only authors. That’s why it’s safe to carry everywhere.

Versions, not overwrites

Every Roam save is a new version in the cloud. The artist proposes; the LD reviews. Edits can land as proposals or auto-apply, per the trust you agree on together.

The promise: the show belongs to the artist, not to one console in one building. Roam is how you keep your hands on it — from anywhere, whenever it hits.

The flow

  1. Open the show on any device. It’s already downloaded — works with no signal.
  2. Scrub to a moment. Any point in any song, like scrubbing a video.
  3. Describe the change. Voice or text, in your own words.
  4. Preview it on-device. Faithful to the feel, instantly.
  5. Save a new version. Cloud-backed; your LD reviews when ready.
